Resume: • Is it eye catching? Is it formatted in a way that is easy for the reader to understand? • Is the resume too long? Depending on the level of career you are seeking, one to two pages should be long enough. More than two pages will most likely loose the potential employer’s interest. One page is recommended. • Does it have key words? If you are seeking a Social Work position, perhaps the words “Social Work: should be presented a few times. • Previous Jobs: Does it list your key responsibilities and accomplishments. • Have you updated the design and material in the past year?
Cover Letter: • It is personal? Why are you seeking an opportunity with company XTZ? • Does the cover letter quickly get to the point? • Is it too long?
Remember: Presenting a good cover letter and resume can make the difference of being invited to an interview or not hearing from the employer at all.
