Incorporated in 1985 as Clackamas County's only shelter for women & children escaping family violence, CWS has safely harbored over 7,000 women & children within the walls of our two shelters. Each night thirty-two women & children call these shelters "home" as they regain control of their lives and plan for their futures.
In addition to emergency shelter, CWS has responded to over 70,000 crisis calls in the last 16 years. This hotline is staffed by trained volunteers & CWS personnel who provide support, information on restraining orders, other resources, and just listen when someone needs to talk.
Because of the negative impact of family violence on youth, CWS has developed a program specifically for children. Through CWS' Children's Program, mothers receive parenting support and information. Children benefit from play therapy, groups, and education and prevention classes, as well as individual attention so that they can break the cycle of violence in their adult lives.
Clackamas Women's Services offers women & children more than a safe place to sleep. CWS provides broken families with long-term emotional and financial support, and transitional housing to ensure their successful journey from crisis to stability.
Beyond the critical services CWS offers women & children escaping abuse, CWS' objective is to reduce the incidence of family violence through public education. We offer community education workshops to a variety of churches, businesses and schools in Clackamas County. To insure that CWS services reflect sensitivity to the needs of all families, we seek to involve individuals from diverse backgrounds & experiences on our staff, among our volunteers and on our Board of Directors.
Clackamas Women’s Services fosters self-empowerment of women and children so they can establish lives free from domestic and sexual violence.
Clackamas Women’s Services fosters self-empowerment of survivors of domestic and sexual violence to move toward lives free of abuse through the provision of crisis and referral services, emergency shelter, transitional services, and community and business education and outreach, thereby reducing the generational recurrence of domestic and sexual violence in our community.
