St. Paul, MN 55108
Founded in 1889, Children’s Home Society & Family Services knows that a child in a safe, nurturing home is a child who thrives. We work to give every child security, opportunity and a loving family.
Our core service areas are:
Early Childhood Care & Education — CHSFS helps young children prepare for success in school, by providing safe, supportive environments in which they can play, learn and grow.
International & Domestic Adoption — Respected for our legacy of excellence in adoption services, CHSFS believes that a family is every child's most basic human right. Today the need for adoption is most urgent for older children, sibling groups, children with a history of abuse and neglect, and children with known medical and special needs.
Post-Placement Support & Connections — CHSFS is committed to supporting all members of an adoptive family throughout their lifelong journey. We are proud to offer educational and cultural events, travel, search and background services, and opportunities to connect to the larger adoption community.
International Child Welfare — CHSFS recognizes an inherent responsibilty to improve the quality of life in countries where we facilitate international adoption. We support targeted, community-based projects that provide care, protection, health and education to vulnerable children around the world.
Nationally, CHSFS is fully accredited by the Council on Accreditation; fully accredited by The Hague Convention on Intercountry Adoption; a founding member of the Child Welfare League of America; and a founding member of Children’s Home Society of America.
In Minnesota, CHSFS is licensed by the Minnesota Department of Human Services; accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs at selected sites; a participating member with United Way community fund drives throughout Minnesota; and meets all standards established by the Minnesota Charities Review Council.
CHSFS East is licensed by the Department of Human Resources, Office of Licensing & Monitoring in Maryland; by the Department of Social Services for the Commonwealth of Virginia; and by the Health Regulation Administration, Child and Residential Care Facilities Division in the District of Columbia. CHSFS East is a participating member of the Combined Federal Campaign for federal employees (CFC# 50400).
